1. The Act establishing the National Agency for food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) confers on the Agency the responsibility amongst others to:
i. Regulate and control the importation, exportation, manufacture, advertisement, distribution, sale and use of food, drugs, cosmetics, medical devices, bottled water and chemical;:
ii. Undertake inspection of imported food, drugs, cosmetics, medical devices, bottled water and chemicals and establish relevant quality assurance systems; including certification of the Production sites and of the regulated products.
iii. Undertake the registration of food, drugs, cosmetics, medical devices, bottled water and chemical; etc.
iv. Carry out such activities as are necessary or expedient for the performance of its functions under this Act.
2. Requirements for Accreditation
The accreditation of Consultants by NAFDAC is the recognition of the competence of both the Organization and the Technical experts within the organization that meet requirements as stipulated below:
i. Organization
- A duly registered Company (legal entity)
- Show evidence in the area(s) of specialization
ii. Technical Expert
- A first degree or its equivalent and cognate experience, not less than 5 years post graduation.
- Employee of an organization seeking accreditation as a Consultant with NAFDAC
- Documented evidence of training, workshop, conferences and certified from both local and/or international organizations in the specified technical areas.
3. Areas of Specialization/Fields of Operations
i. Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
ii. Regulations and Regulatory
iii. Clinical Trials
iv. Chemicals and Controlled Substances
v. Surveillance
4. Application
i. Forms
A Prospective Accredited Consultant shall obtain an Application Form A for the Organization and Application Form B for each of the Technical Expert within the organization in the area(s) of Specialization.
Each application form cost N10,000.00 (Ten thousand naira only) payable at the point of collection of form.
ii. Processing Fees
A non-refundable processing fee of N40,000.00 (Forty thousand naira only) is payable at the point of submission of the completed form.
iii. All payments should be made in a certified bank draft payable to National Agency For Food And Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
5. Submission of Application Forms
i. Completed application forms shall be submitted to the DG’s office and forward to the Verification Committee for processing with relevant documents
ii. All applications shall be submitted on or before Tuesday, June 5th 2012, with the envelope marked “Application as NAFDAC Regulatory Consultant” and forwarded to:
